When how much you weigh and what you eat becomes your life... when you become obsessed with stepping on the scales or with staring at your body in the mirror, you have a problem and you need to deal with it promptly because eating disorders are dangerous, both psychologically and physically.
The scary thing is that most eating disorders start out as simple diets, but they eventually get out of control.
A person with an eating disorder may
- Fixate on food, calories, eating, dieting, weight and body shape
- Feel fat no matter how much weight lost
- Eat alone, or hide eating and food, or hide weight gain or loss
- Eat large amounts of food in a short time
- Purge after eating
- Strive to do things perfectly and be perfect
- Withdraw from friends and family
- Feel guilty after eating
- Feel afraid of gaining weight
- Hoard food and/or
- Spend a lot of time in the bathroom after eating
Common disorders include:
anorexia nervosa ( a refusal to eat, leading to self starvation. Usually the person is very thin but has a distorted view that she is fat)
Bulimia nervosa (eating too much food and feeling out of control when doing so, then getting rid of the food by vomiting or using laxatives and/or diuretics)
Compulsive eating disorder ( eating excessively, leading to obesity.
Usually the person goes on crash diets, but shortly after losing weight goes back to food binging)

Are you fed up with diets that do not work?
Are you worried that you will never lose the amount of weight you need to shed? It might surprise you that long term weight loss means getting rid of your diet mentality - the idea that you are jumping into another temporary regime.
