Too much stress, or that feeling of being unable to cope or being out of control, is something most of us experience at different times in our lives

While stress can be a good thing because it is what motivates us, too much leaves us thinking that we just cannot cope or that is no longer manageable which is when it becomes destructive.

Pressures at work, financial problems, a rocky patch in a relationship, problems with children or the car breaking down can all put us under stress.

Stress related health problems can include high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches as well as allergic reactions such as eczema and psoriasis.

It can also lead us to sleepless nights, irritability, inability to concentrate and even depression.

That is why it is important to do something the moment you feel that stress is getting the upper hand. One of the most damaging states of mind is the feeling that you are not in control of your life.

Therefore, it is important to acknowledge your emotional needs and feelings in order to effect changes and balance your lifestyle.
