REMOVING THE PAIN
OF SOCIAL PHOBIA
SOCIAL phobia is something I have long specialised in
I know how crippling it can be if untreated...
Social phobia is an intense fear of becoming humiliated in social situations, specifically of embarrassing yourself
in front of other people.
People with social phobia often feel as if:
- Everyone's attention is focused on them.
- Everyone notices their tiniest mistakes (which often aren't mistakes in the first place)
- Everyone else is much more capable in the same situation.
In social situations people with social phobia will feel intense anxiety. Some people with social phobia are only comfortable with close friends and family.
Many people can be anxious dealing with people in authoritative positions such as bosses.
I can help you overcome low self esteem and frustration that can settle in after social disappointments and a perceived feeling of rejection and move towards mastery of the situations you find most difficult.
STEPPING OUT
OF ANXIETY
I have helped many clients
step out of anxiety and
wave goodbye to the symptoms
such as panic attacks, insomnia,
stress and worrying.
Here is what some of them have said:
- "Thank you very much for the help
that you gave me... I haven't experienced
any major or, indeed, minor panic attacks
since I last saw you and I am feeling
positive for the future
Once again my heartfelt thanks"
- "Four years on I am reaping the benefits
of the sessions I had... so many thanks for
that."
- "Many thanks for your excellent help. I feel
much more positive about life."
- "I do honestly feel I have made good gains
in our sessions and I am looking forward
to addressing everything successfully."
- "I would like to thank you so much for your
understanding... your compassion shines out."
- "Thank you for all you have done for me"
- "After my sessions with you I have found an inner
calmness and confidence that I haven't had for
many years. I must confess that initially I was
sceptical"

SUCCESS STORY
“ Since my last session a couple of months ago, I have been out and felt really good. I’m rather more upbeat in my general demeanour, not so withdrawn and introspective. Also my tinnitus has virtually gone. So rather a success story. Long may it continue. Many thanks.” PL

Examples of Social Anxiety
Social anxiety is said to be the third largest psychological problem in the world today. I can help you with it.
Ask people what their greatest fear is and they will often say it is making a speech or talking in public.
Typical examples of social anxiety and phobia are:
- A woman hates to stand in the queue at the local supermarket because she is afraid everyone is watching her.
- Another person sits in front of the television and agonises because he is afraid to pick up the receiver and make a call
- A man finds it difficult to walk down the street because he is self conscious and feels that people are watching him.
- A woman dreads going to work because a meeting is scheduled the next day.
- A student won’t attend her university classes on the first day because she knows that some professors will instruct them to go around the room and introduce themselves.
- Another young man won’t go to parties and other social events
In public places, such as work, meetings or shopping, people with social anxiety feel that everyone is watching, staring and judging them.
The socially anxious person cannot relax, take it easy and enjoy themselves in public. In fact, many can never fully relax when other people are around. They feel that others are being critical of them or judging them in some way and because the anxiety can be so painful it can be easier to stay away from social situations and avoid other people altogether.
Freedom for being fearful in social situationsI have years of experience in helping people with social anxiety:
Here is how I help my socially anxious clients:
Devise programmes to overcome social anxiety
- Build self esteem and self worth
- Work on loving yourself – and then others.
- Challenge limiting belief systems and irrational thoughts that support the anxiety
- Inner child work and finding the root cause of the anxiety.
- Learn relaxation strategies
- Visualisation
- Positive affirmations
- Bringing more peace into your life.
- Using NLP and hypnosis for mental re programming.
- Learn techniques to control and lessen anxiety
Just how anxious are you?Read the following statements and mark each one:
a) Not me;
b) Yes, that’s me
c) that’s very me.
- I was a shy and anxious child.
- I never know what to say in social situations.
- I feel nervous when speaking to members of the opposite sex on a one to one basis.
- I feel nervous when speaking to someone of the same sex on a one to one basis.
- I am very nervous when talking to someone I am attracted to.
- I am very nervous when talking to someone in a position of authority.
- I am more shy than my peers.
- I feel socially anxious every day.
- It takes me a long time to overcome my social fears in new situations.
- I feel others are constantly evaluating what I do and say.
Score 1 point for every a;
Score 2 points for every b and
Score 3 points for every c.
1 to 10: Some social anxiety
11 to 19: Fairly social anxious
20 to 30: Very socially anxious

Help for public speaking, meetings and presentationsA Christian was thrown into an arena with a lion.
As the animal leapt at him, he whispered in its ear and it slunk away.
Asked what he had said to the lion, the Christian replied: I told him he’d have to make an after dinner speech.
Public speaking is the number one phobia. It affects more people than any other phobia.
A recent study showed that most people are more fearful of talking in public than they are of dying.
The thought of addressing more than a handful of people will make many people feel sick.
